Diablo 4 2nd expansion, Lord of Hatred, will be officially released on April 27, 2026 at 4 PM Pacific Time, introducing numerous new features, remastered content, and an entirely new system. Among the many additions, the all-new War Plans system, positioned as the most innovative endgame content system, will be unveiled for the first time.
Next, IGGM will guide you through the specifics of Lord of Hatred War Plans, hoping to help you have a better experience after the game’s release.
War Plans Meaning
War Plans are a new endgame activity added in Lord of Hatred expansion. It allows players to choose their favorite activities and chain them together to obtain rich rewards. It provides a quick and convenient way to experience existing endgame content.
You can create your own Diablo 4 event list by choosing from a variety of endgame events. Completing certain types of War Plans unlocks event skill points, which you can use to customize how you interact with War Plans system and the rewards you can earn.
How to Get Started?
Players unlock War Plans after completing Lord of Hatred campaign at least once with one character. After completing the campaign, any character created afterward can access War Plans after completing a short introduction.
Players can access War Plans in Temis, a new city in Skovos region. There, after completing the required steps, players need to interact with War Plans table to set their own War Plans Path. This allows players to choose the activities they want to complete to finish their path.
If this is your first time completing the campaign and unlocking War Plans, your path will contain three activities. However, if it’s a newly created character, your path only requires completing two activities to claim the rewards.
Included Contents
War Plans encompass almost all past content in the game and incorporate it as an option into your War Plans path. Here is a list of all content available in War Plans, brought to you by IGGM:
- Tree of Whispers: An open-world bounty system. Complete various quests on the map to accumulate Grim Favors, which can then be exchanged at Tree of Whispers for chests containing valuable equipment, D4 gold, and resources.
- Nightmare Dungeons: An upgraded version of the basic dungeons, activated by special Nightmare Sigils. These are more challenging and are the primary location for upgrading runes on Paragon Board.
- Kurast Undercity: A dynamic, time-limited dungeon in Lord of Hatred expansion. Players must quickly clear corridors, defeat specific enemies, and use special sacrifices to obtain the final loot.
- Lair Bosses: Require summoning lair boss keys obtained from other events to open Hoard offreed by lair bosses such as Duriel, Andariel, and Grigoire, who drop items with the highest stats.
- Infernal Hordes: An arena-based survival mode focused on repelling waves of demons. By killing enemies and completing mini-tasks, you collect Burning Aether, which is spent on chests with your desired rewards after defeating the final council.
- The Pit: A time-limited dungeon with progressively increasing difficulty, the ultimate test of your character’s strength, and provides materials needed for equipment crafting.
- Helltides: Regional events that alter open-world areas, where monsters become much stronger and drop special items, Cinders, upon death. These items can be used to unlock Tortured Gifts containing specific types of equipment.
The content available under specific War Plans is randomized, but players can reselect by spending points earned from completing War Plans. It’s playable continuously with no entry barriers.
Endgame Activities System
The biggest difference between War Plans and simply completing specific content is that it’s a new progression system that can drastically alter the course of Diablo 4 based on the chosen milestones. War Plans will teleport you directly to queued event areas, saving you the hassle of searching for event locations on a vast map.
Furthermore, War Plans adds a progress tree to each endgame event. By completing enough events, you can unlock various modifiers that change how the event progresses. For example, you can change the type of reward, add specific objectives, or spawn specific types of enemies.
However, the items obtained through these events are often too few to meet the initial demand for a large amount of Master-level gear. Therefore, after Lord of Hatred launches, you can choose to buy cheap Diablo 4 items from IGGM, where we can provide you with the safest and fastest way to acquire them.

Completing endgame content solely for loot isn’t always engaging for players. However, adding a progress bar to game events is much more appealing, encouraging many players to continue playing and see how many more unusual restrictions they can unlock and add.
Rewards
In addition to the rewards players receive for completing content such as Nightmare Dungeons, completing War Plans will also grant you a treasure chest filled with loot. IGGM will show you what you can get from this chest. Here are some examples:
- Uniques
- Set Charms
- Unique Charms
- Ancestral Gear
- Runewords
- Gold and Materials
Beyond these, there may be many more items. Given the wide variety of loot obtainable from reward chests, IGGM believes War Plans are an ideal choice for players to acquire equipment and level up.
This concludes IGGM’s coverage of Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred War Plans. The introduction of War Plans represents a major overhaul of Diablo 4’s endgame content, significantly enhancing gameplay and providing players with substantial rewards.
