We’re used to fitness being a treadmill, a barbell, dumbbells and a stretch. But there are other ways to keep fit. One of these non-standard approaches can be called shooting training using a target shooting app at home.
Such shooting at first glance seems to be a static occupation, but it is an illusion. When you work with a simulator, especially in dynamic exercises, your body makes dozens of movements per minute. Constant change of racks, transfer of weapons, change of targets, all this requires mobility of joints, sharpness and balance.
Professional practical shooting instructors have long noticed: a beginner who regularly plays any sport masters shooting exercises two to three times faster than an “office employee” who spends his life in an armchair. Because shooting starts with the body.
Here’s how training with a laser simulator pumps important physical qualities:
Reaction. The average time from the start of the movement to the release of the trained shooter takes 0.2-0.3 seconds. This is a level comparable to the athlete’s reaction in Formula 1. Constant time-based exercise reduces neural delay.
Coordination. The shot is the coordinated work of hundreds of muscles. Fingers on the trigger, a brush that stabilizes the weapon, a shoulder belt that holds the stock, a body that controls the balance, legs that provide stability. So the home shooting simulator replaces the equipped gym.
Static. Keeping the weapon on the weight requires static endurance of the muscles of the shoulder and back, and all the muscles of the bark. After an hour of such exercises, the muscles hurt no less than after strength training.
And most importantly, you won’t get bored. You don’t force yourself to do repetitions of the same type. On the contrary, it resembles a fun game, but at the same time your body fully works. Some fitness clubs already include similar workouts in their cross-fit programs. This trend is just emerging, but is actively gaining momentum.
